Getting Comfortable With The Basics

Free Proton Account – A must-have leg for your security stool!

In addition to my password manager, BitWarden, I use features in the free Proton account to complete my personal security system. A Proton Free account gives you a unified ecosystem of privacy-focused services.

I store most one-time passwords (TOTP) in the BitWarden vault for convenience. However, it’s necessary to have a place to save the one-time codes for logging on to BitWarden itself. This is where Proton Authenticator comes in. I store the TOTP codes for accessing BitWarden along with codes for high-security accounts like email, bank, and investment accounts, etc in the Proton Authenticator.

Proton Drive’s zero-knowledge encrypted storage is a perfect place to store backups of BitWarden and other secure documents.

Here is an overview of what you get for free across Email, Drive, Authenticator, and VPN: Sign up  – Proton Plans Explained

Proton Mail is the key to accessing all the other Proton services. It’s just like a Gmail account, which lets you access all of Google’s services.  Proton Mail Review
