Captains Quarters The captain's in-port cabin was used to entertain dignitaries visiting the ship. He had his own galley and cooks and occasionally invited his staff to dinner. If the ship was in a foreign port that had no U.S. Ambassador, the captain served in that capacity. When at sea, the captain stayed in his sea cabin adjacent to the navigation bridge. |
