Pocket-size AutoRanging Clamp-On Ammeter This is just what you need to measure all sorts of DC current draws around your RV. No need to open the circuit to insert the meter leads. To check the output of you battery charger just clamp the meter jaws around (nothing touches the power circuit) the battery cable to read the current going into or out of your RV battery. Check braking system current or that of each individual brake. This is a great way to know if your magnets are good at each wheel. To check for stray power leaks turn off all DC switches and measure the current coming from the battery. You can easily see 0.1 A this is what my refrigerator control control circuitry draws. If more current is flowing than you think is normal just go to the fuse block and measure each circuit one at a time. These tests can all be performed without disconnecting any wires.
The technology to measure DC current with a clamp on probe has been
around for a while but I have not seen a meter for under several hundred
dollars before. |
